How we built a multi-tenant healthcare app that brings online prescriptions, medicine orders, lab test booking and doctor consultations together across Android, iOS and web.
Project overview
DocPharma is a unified healthcare app that brings pharmacy, lab diagnostics, and doctor consultations together. Users manage online prescriptions, order medicines, book lab test slots, and schedule appointments. Built for hospitals, D2C brands, and insurers, it provides a configurable, multi-tenant architecture with operator-specific branding, inventory, discounts, and features.
The challenge
Customers lacked a unified way to search, order, and track medicines, especially prescription products. Lab services were separated from pharmacy ordering, operators needed their own branded experience without changing the core platform, and doctor availability and bookings lacked structured scheduling.
The solution
Pharmacy, diagnostics, and doctor consultations are combined in one platform, with medicine ordering, prescription management, and diagnostic services with home collection. Online and in-clinic booking shows doctor availability and visit times, and operators manage their own branding, catalogues, discounts, and features.
Our approach
We defined user personas, module boundaries, and integration requirements, then built pharmacy, diagnostics, and consultation modules through focused sprints. AI tools accelerated catalogue parsing, order logic, and admin development, and a multi-tenant architecture lets operators configure branding, SKUs, and discounts without code changes.
Technical architecture
React Native, React.js, and TypeScript power the app across mobile and web. A multi-tenant configuration engine manages branding, catalogues, and feature access per deployment. RESTful APIs connect pharmacy, lab booking, payments, and insurer services, with PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, OAuth2, JWT, and an order-state machine supporting secure operations.
Business impact
Industry figures show 60% of patients prefer moving to an online pharmacy after a virtual consultation, digital prescription validation can reduce prescription errors by up to 85%, and digital healthcare platforms can improve patient engagement by around 30%.
